Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, you will be received by our representative and transferred to your hotel.
Kathmandu is the spiritual gateway to the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra and serves as the starting point for documentation checks, yatra orientation, and physical preparation.
In the evening:
- Group introduction and detailed yatra briefing
- Explanation of route, altitude profile, Parikrama process, safety protocols, and do’s & don’ts
- Discussion on acclimatization, breathing techniques, hydration, and medication
Dinner will be served at the hotel.
Overnight stay: Kathmandu

After breakfast, proceed for a full-day spiritual sightseeing tour within the Kathmandu Valley.
Places visited:
- Pashupatinath Temple – one of the most sacred Shiva temples in the world
- Guheshwari Mata Temple – an important Shakti Peeth
- Budhanilkantha (Jal Narayan / Sleeping Vishnu) – a massive Vishnu statue carved from a single stone
- Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple) (subject to time) – panoramic view of Kathmandu valley
This day helps in mental grounding and spiritual alignment before entering Tibet.
Return to the hotel in the evening.

After breakfast, depart for Kodari, the Nepal–Tibet border town.
- Distance: ~110 km
- Drive duration: 5–6 hours
- Terrain: Mountain roads with scenic river valleys
Kodari is a small border settlement where preparations are made for crossing into Tibet.
Overnight stay: Kodari
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
After breakfast, proceed to the Friendship Bridge, which marks the official border between Nepal and Tibet.
- Complete immigration and customs formalities
- Cross into Tibet (China)
- Drive to Nyalam, the first Tibetan town
Nyalam is located at 3,750 meters, making it ideal for initial acclimatization.
Light walking is encouraged; avoid exertion.
Distance: ~40 km
Overnight stay: Nyalam
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
After breakfast, drive towards Saga, one of the most important towns in western Tibet.
Saga is located on the banks of the Brahmaputra River, which originates near Mount Kailash and later flows through India.
- Distance: ~150 km
- Drive duration: 4–5 hours
- Terrain: Open Tibetan plateau with gradual altitude gain
Overnight stay: Saga
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
This entire day is reserved for mandatory acclimatization.
Purpose:
- Allow the body to adapt to high altitude
- Reduce the risk of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS)
- Increase chances of successfully completing Kailash Parikrama
Activities:
- Short walks
- Breathing exercises
- Medical observation by staff
Overnight stay: Saga
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Early morning departure from Saga towards the sacred Lake Mansarovar.
On arrival:
- Drive around Lake Mansarovar by vehicle (Parikrama)
- Stop at suitable location for holy dip
- Perform puja, havan, and meditation on the lakeshore
Lake Mansarovar is considered the purest lake on earth, and bathing here is believed to cleanse sins of lifetimes.
- Distance: ~470 km
- Drive duration: 6–7 hours
Overnight stay: Guesthouse near Lake Mansarovar (Chiu Gompa – West Shore)
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Early morning rituals and prayers at Lake Mansarovar.
After breakfast:
- Drive to Darchen, the base camp town for Mount Kailash
- Final preparations for Kailash Parikrama
- Allocation of yaks / ponies / porters (optional)
- Distance: ~60 km
Overnight stay: Darchen
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
After early breakfast:
- Drive to Yam Dwar (Tarboche) – the sacred gateway of Kailash Parikrama
- Perform short prayers before beginning the trek
Trek Details:
- Distance: ~10 km
- Duration: 5–7 hours
- Terrain: Mostly flat with gradual ascent
Deraphuk offers the closest and clearest view of Mount Kailash’s North Face.
Pilgrims not undertaking Parikrama will stay back in Darchen.
Overnight stay: Deraphuk (4,920 m)

This is the most demanding and sacred day of the entire yatra.
Early morning start (around 5:00 AM).
Trek Highlights:
- Continuous ascent to Dolma La Pass (5,800 m) – highest point
- Descend to Gauri Kund, a sacred glacial lake
- Rocky and steep descent, physically taxing
Trek Details:
- Distance: ~22 km
- Duration: 8–9 hours
Extreme caution, slow pace, and hydration are critical.
Overnight stay: Zutulphuk
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
After breakfast:
- Trek from Zutulphuk to Parikrama ending point (Zongdau)
Trek Details:
- Distance: ~8 km
- Duration: ~3 hours
- Terrain: Easy and mostly flat
Board the vehicle and drive back to Saga.
Overnight stay: Saga
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
After breakfast, begin the return journey toward Nyalam.
- Distance: ~240 km
- Drive duration: 6–7 hours
Overnight stay: Nyalam
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Early morning drive to Kodari border.
- Complete immigration formalities
- Cross back into Nepal
- Drive to Kathmandu
- Distance: ~170 km
- Drive duration: 6–7 hours
